For some of us, the crowded, noisy South Beach lifestyle just doesn’t cut it. Fortunately, there’s North Miami Beach; a place that has all the benefits of ocean-side amenities without (all) the drawbacks of a tourist trap.
North Miami Beach offers fun in the sun with its clean, accessible beaches and great dining and entertainment venues. The North Beach Bandshell is a perfect example of what this area is all about. Built in 1961, the Bandshell was a gathering place for North Beach residents on Saturday nights when big band ensembles would delight crowds with ballroom music for fantastic nights under the stars. Today, managed by The Rhythm Foundation, the Bandshell continues to host regular events.
If golfing is your thing, then the Normandy Shores Golf Club is for you. Located on Normandy Isle, site of Iris on the Bay townhome development, you can play the first 9 holes on this beautiful, professionally managed course in the morning and come back after a seafood brunch at Locura Marina restaurant to round out all 18.
The MiMo guided walking tours showcase the absolute best examples of the Miami Modernist style of architecture (MiMo). Tours are hosted by the Miami Design Preservation League and happen every first Saturday of the month, year-round.
North Miami Beach has just about everything you’d want in a neighborhood; walkable streets, free public transportation with the North Beach Trolley, schools, parks and ocean views wherever you look. The only thing you might complain about is running out of sunblock all the time.
